How Do I Pick My Wedding Colors?

Are you picking out your colors for your upcoming wedding? Let's look at this couple's color palette while we talk wedding colors!

The wedding colors for this wedding were turquoise, pink, and white. I believe they picked this color scheme because the bride loves turquoise, but it really worked well for a few reasons.

How Do I Pick My Wedding Colors?

When you are thinking about your wedding colors there are a few things you can ask yourself to narrow things down:

What time of year is my wedding?

What does the location of my wedding look like?

What is my hair/eye color?

Especially if you are having an outdoor wedding, the season your wedding is going to occur in will help you narrow down what colors might fit best. The example today was a June (spring) wedding, any colors that complimented the greenery that could be expected would be a great place to start.

Your venue will have a HUGE influence on what your wedding will look and feel like. If you are getting married on a ranch up the Southfork, the color scheme will look dramatically different than if you get married at the museum. The surrounding colors associated with the venue, the theme of the venue, and more will give you an idea of where to start with your colors.

What colors look great with your hair and eye color? You can usually find these colors in your closet! What color is your favorite shirt, or the shirt you get the most compliments in? Especially when we are talking about the bride, the colors you chose will be with you all day in the shirt your husband wears, the florals found in your bouquet, etc,. Make sure you pick colors that compliment your hair color, eye color, and undertones in your skin.

If you have any questions about picking your wedding colors, I can always help you through that process. I always help my brides and grooms with the color palette and timeline of their wedding so they can feel comfortable that the day will go smoothly and look great!
