Air Force Wife

August 27th, 2022 was the day I documented my best friend get married. Through misty eyes, I had the opportunity to capture a moment that her and I had talked about in our dorm room together only a year before.

Emily was the Queen of DIY through her wedding planning and coordinated a wedding that was truly perfect for them. With antique lanterns, a weathered door, and subtle burlap details, the aesthetic was so simple and true to her.

Emily and Luke opted for their guests to sit in a semi circle to view their vows. Her brother played “I Guess I am in Love” by Clinton Kane, as her father walked her around the corner to Luke. She look fantastic in her off white dress with lace details circling toward her future husband. The crowd was the first to view Emily and Luke got to see her for the first time as she rounded the corner.

Following the ceremony, my second shooter and I captured candid moments between them as they celebrated their unity! I scouted locations (before the wedding) around their venue for their portraits. We had agreed on this sandy dune and they leisurely made their way to that spot.

At the top of the dune, we captured some quick bridal portraits. Their wedding was very intimate and they were eager to return to their friends and family.

I had the privilege of signing as a witness, as well as someone else we went to high school with. We were guided through the process by her cousin, who was the Master of Ceremony. As if the rest of the wedding wasn’t gorgeously vintage enough, we used a fountain pen to sign the documents.

Emily and Luke personalized their wedding all the way down to the dinner and dessert. They served Pizza by 307 Pizza for dinner and ice cream by The Box Ice Cream Truck in place of a traditional cake. Both were obviously a hit.

Emily and Luke’s wedding is a prime example of how you can infuse your day with little details that make it special to you. This was a backyard wedding filled with the people that mattered most to them. The most important thing on their wedding day was them, and that was it.

After talking to Emily, we decided that her actually experiencing her wedding day was the most important part. We kept the portrait sessions quick and the family photos quicker so everyone could enjoy their time together. My second shooter and I floated through the wedding, capturing all of the candid moments that get lost in your memory over time.

Emily and Luke,

Thank you so much for trusting me to capture this moment for you.

With Love,

Rebecca
