3 Easy Posing Tips for Your Bridal Portraits!
1. Leg closest to the camera is bent!
This helps accentuate everyone’s curves and allows you to push your weight distribution off of both feet.
The key to this is that your weight distribution is away from the camera. If the leg closest to the camera is bent, it makes you push your weight away from the camera which will always be flattering.
Your weight should NEVER be evenly distributed though both feet.
2. Arms away from your ribs!
Your arms should always be softly bent and/or pulled away from your sides.
If your arms are too close to your sides, it doesn’t allow for any separation between your figure and your arm. This will add width to your body and will generally not be the most flattering way we can pose. Your arms will ALWAYS look great if they are at least a little bit off of your body. This rule hits two birds with one stone.
You can comfortable keep you arms away from your ribs by holding your bouquet in front of you and softly bending your elbows, playing with your train, placing your hand on the smallest part of your waist, etc.
3. Tall Posture!
I don’t want to sound like your grandma here… but we don’t want slouching around here!
I like to cue this by saying,
“Stand tall from your ribs through the top of your head.”
Sometimes when I cue someone to “stand tall” they will do exactly as I said and stand like they are getting their height measured at the doctors office. The key to “standing tall” in photos is to keep your weight distribution uneven in your feet and achieving good posture from your ribs up to the top of your head!
